Saying Hello

Naming ceremonies.

Choosing the right name for your little one is a big decision. After all, that is how the world will know them. If it is a modern name, or a traditional one that has been given for generations, it is important.

For many, the traditional Baptism is not right for them, but they still want to celebrate their child's naming.

Godparents are still seen as an important part of our heritage, but their duty is solely to build and support the child's relationship with God.

A naming ceremony, is a way to celebrate the naming of a child, to recognise where and why that name was chosen. To proudly announce your child to your family and friends.

Supporting adults can be a huge part of the ceremony, as well as your little one's life. Their role is to make promises to support the child throughout their life, to add another adult to whom they can turn to, as well as supporting you to help as the child grows.

This ceremony can be held wherever you wish, for a single child or more. Symbolic actions can be added, family members can participate too.

I will work with you to create a bespoke ceremony, include any actions or reading you would like. With no legal requirements, this can be held at your chosen venue, or even your home, at a time that is suitable for you.

Welcoming Ceremonies

Not every new arrival is newborn.

Sometimes life gives us a child in different ways, they too should be celebrated.

There are several reasons a new addition to your family may already have their name.

This can still be celebrated and can have all of the same parts of a naming ceremony, but the focus is on the joining of the family unit. Supporting adults can be still appointed, family members can still be an active part of the ceremony to welcome them - in fact this is encouraged as it helps them to see that they do belong.
